Ingredient Highlights

  • Ground Beef: The base of this burger recipe is high-quality ground beef, which is juicy and flavorful. You can also substitute it with chicken, turkey, or a plant-based option for a different twist.

  • Pepper Jack Cheese: This cheese is the star of the recipe, offering a smooth, creamy texture with a spicy kick. It melts perfectly over the patty, adding depth to each bite.

  • Jalapeños: Fresh jalapeños bring the heat and contribute a crisp, refreshing contrast to the creamy cheese and tender beef.

  • Burger Buns: Soft yet sturdy buns help hold all the ingredients together without falling apart, offering the perfect balance between softness and structure.

Instructions

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. Season the Meat: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the seasonings are evenly distributed throughout the meat, but don’t overwork the mixture as it can make the patties tough.

  2. Form the Patties: Divide the seasoned meat into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make sure the patties are slightly larger than your buns, as they will shrink a bit as they cook.

Cook the Patties

  1. Heat the Pan or Grill: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat or preheat your grill. Add a tablespoon of olive oil to the pan, or brush the grill with oil to prevent sticking.

  2. Cook the Patties: Place the patties in the hot skillet or on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the burgers are browned and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F or 71°C). If you prefer a less well-done burger, adjust the cooking time to your preference.

  3. Add the Cheese: During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of pepper jack cheese on each patty. Cover with a lid or a piece of aluminum foil to help the cheese melt perfectly.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. Toast the Buns: While the burgers cook, lightly toast the buns on the grill or in a separate pan for 1-2 minutes until they are golden and slightly crispy.

  2. Add the Toppings: Once the patties are cooked and the cheese is melted, remove the patties from the skillet or grill. Place the cooked patties on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with fresh jalapeño slices, lettuce, tomato, avocado, or any other toppings you like.

Serve the Burgers

  1. Assemble and Serve: Place the top half of the bun on top of the assembled burger and serve immediately. Enjoy your Jalapeño Pepper Jack Burger with a side of crispy fries, potato chips, or a fresh salad!
